LlANGOLLEN CANAL INFORMATION

We would like to thank everyone who have emailed their pictures to us, and we look forward to seeing more, so please keep sending them in, we will be adding some to our "NEW" Llangollen blog site soon, see our links page.

The Llangollen canal has to be amongst the most picturesque in the UK with some impressive sights along its route; including the Horseshoe falls, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, and Chirk Aqueduct, which stands 70 ft over the river Ceiriog, beside a large railway viaduct with the Chirk Tunnel 459 yards long nearby.

The Llangollen canal is 46 miles long starting from Hurleston Junction (where it joins the Shropshire Union canal) and ending at the Horseshoe falls in Lantysilio.

At Frankton Junction 29 miles from Hurleston Junction, the Montgomery canal begins. The restored sections at present run from Frankton Junction to Gronwyn Bridge. There is however, other sections under discussion for future restoration.
